The hats I wear at AccuWeather

For the last two and a half years, I've been working at the AccuWeather headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania. I started happily in a Helpdesk position, just as I did when I started my IT career, as I had been off the market for a handful of years raising my two kids until my youngest was ready for preschool. Even while home for those years, I had a side hustle (before side hustles were cool) of developing JavaScript mobile apps using Appcelerator Titanium. Less than a year after joining AccuWeather, I had already been developing dozens of Microsoft Flows (now Power Automate) and several PowerApps (now with a space), including a canvas app for our Dynamics 365 Sales implementation. That work combined with my initiative to volunteer for a new position led to my current role of HRIS Administrator, where in addition to the Power Platform developer projects I work on, administer our instance of SAP SuccessFactors, Greenhouse, and some ADP WorkforceNow reporting. A normal day these days might start with proctoring Kindergarten, answering support requests from overnight, doing some reporting in Power BI, developing automations with Power Automate, and building custom connectors for whatever third-party system I need to integrate or get data from/to.
